Captain David Ballard
St. Augustine, Florida
Captain David Ballard is a St. Augustine, FL native. He has fished these waters since he was a boy, and has surfed and scuba dived in the area for many years. He has always loved the sea, so it seemed only the natural thing to share the experiences on the water with like-minded people. Meeting these people is his favorite part of the job. He loves passing on all he has learned over his decades-long fishing career, and hopefully creating lasting memories along the way.

“My sister was visiting from Minnesota and one of her bucket list items was to fish in the open ocean.
Well, Captain David did not disappoint. We met at the appointed location and after a few instructions we were on our way. After a 7 mile boat ride out to the open ocean we were given our rods and Captain baited our hooks and we were set to go. After a short while it was determined that while the fish were biting (we pulled in a couple of blue fish and too-small bass), they were not bitting as was hoped so we moved a few more miles out. Once again we dropped our lines and the fish were just not cooperating. Still not satisfied with how they were biting, we pulled anchor and moved again. After a few attempts we made our way back to our original spot and began to catch some keepers. My husband pulled in two lemon sharks and just before leaving (as our time was coming to an end), my sister caught a 4 foot lemon shark and needless to say, it made her trip so worth it! What impressed us about our Captain is that he was not satisfied with going to one spot and not catching anything. He made sure we all enjoyed our experience. He was great at what he does and we highly recommend him and Great White Charters.”
